Miss Emily
Born an 8th generation Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada offspring, Emily Fennell spent her childhood performing at local county fairs, churches and hockey games. In her early 20s, a move to Kingston, Ontario changed the trajectory of her career and the Miss Emily moniker was born. Now in her 20th year as a full-time artist, Emily has only begun her journey as an international touring artist. With the mark of her daughter's 14th birthday in 2019, the ties to home felt a little more flexible and broader Canadian, UK and European touring ensued. Four nominations and three wins at the 2020 Maple Blues Awards showed more promise, but a global pandemic paused her progress once again. Single motherhood forced Emily to create an online community to stay connected to her fans years earlier and lockdowns found that platform never more valuable. With a studio album project shelved, Miss Emily pushed forward, releasing her first self-produced album 'Miss Emily LIVE at The Isabel' which was nominated for a JUNO (Blues Album of the Year).
She specializes in overcoming insurmountable challenges and scaling metaphorical mountains. Her work ethic was forged in the foundries of Southern Ontario's bars and nightclubs. Her resilience is a product of 20 years in an industry that can be, at best, "unfriendly" towards women. She has an innovative spirit and creative force born out of necessity, and her incomparable vocals are surpassed only by her electrifying, roof-rattling performances.
Miss Emily is thrilled to be back on the road now, touring her latest album 'Defined By Love' and appearing with the awesome Neil Berg and cast.
