Songs from Les Miserables, Jekyll & Hyde, CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera

By Nicole Burgin

It's billed as a concert of Broadway classics from hit shows like Les Miserables and Jesus Christ Superstar. 100 Years of Broadway opened Tuesday night and will be at the downtown Tulsa PAC through Sunday.

"It makes sense because it is the greatest American music with the greatest American Broadway stars in one night. Whats not to love?" says Neil Berg, the shows producer.

Listen to KRMG's interview with Neil Berg and Chuck Wagner

He tells KRMG the show brings together Broadway performers and the songs they made famous, like Chuck Wagner, a 30 year Broadway veteran, who originated the title roles in Jekyll and Hyde on the stage.

"So, since Chuck was the original star of Jekyll and Hyde, the very first person to ever play the role, people will get to see him sing the biggest hit from that show which Chuck was the very first person to ever sing it, This is the moment,"says Berg.

"It is a great show and it is a great song," says Wagner.

But the two during an interview at KRMG explain Wagner knew the songs before he landed the role because of his relationship with the writer.

"Chuck actually sang it before then even. Chuck was friends in college with Frank Wildhorn, the writer at UCLA," says Berg.

"So, a lot of the songs were written for me," adds Wagner. The evening includes songs from famous like Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar and Jekyll and Hyde.
